Founder of Charleston, SC fly fishing guides service FishWater Outfitters. Captain Braden Powell has built his life around the sport of fly fishing. From his early beginnings on the New River in his hometown of Blacksburg, Virginia, Braden found his passion early in life. Drawn by the splendor of Montana’s legendary outdoor lifestyle and bountiful rivers, Braden ventured west from the Blue Ridge Mountains to pursue his B.A. in Nature-Based Tourism and Recreation Management from the University of Montana in Missoula.

Captain Braden Powell has traveled the world as a fly fishing guide. His work has taken him to fishing destinations including Montana, Idaho, Alaska, the Florida Keys, Patagonia Chile, The Bahamas, and South Carolina. With over 20 years of guiding experience and over 14 years fishing the Charleston area, his wide variety of fishing knowledge comes together to read the tides, learn migration patterns, and consistently put clients in the right spot at the right time.

All year long, Braden can be found targeting redfish and other saltwater species in the South Carolina Lowcountry, serving Charleston, Kiawah Island, Folly Beach, & beyond.  Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder can be found year round, however, during the summer months, Braden will be searching for Jack Crevalle, Cobia and Tarpon. The large expanse of saltwater estuaries around Charleston, SC offer Captain Braden and Charleston, SC fly fishing guides endless possibilities for targeting redfish and other species on fly or light tackle.
