Well, Spring is here in The Lowcountry, at least it is every other day! The very common and frustrating fluctuations in weather that accompany the beginning of Spring as well as the wind, have been showing up a lot recently. Even though these weather patterns really don’t lend any consistency to our fishing, it is a good sign that Spring is just around the corner.
When we do have a day or two in a row of good weather, the Redfish get pretty fired up and are readily eating flies! Captain Braden Powell has been having his best results while fishing the low and incoming tide as the water gets a little over the fishes heads, they seem to be much more comfortable and are feeding better, rather than on the falling tide.
The Fly Fishing and light tackle fishing here in Charleston, SC should remain good and only get better as we continue through Spring. The Redfish will begin to break out of their schools and provide many opportunities at sight fishing with a fly rod or light tackle spinning rod.
